You may have been used to finding vacancy bulletins on the local Connexions website.  That website is soon to shut down now that Connexions has been brought into the Youth Support service.

We're in the middle of creating a new site and it's not quite ready yet, so you'll now be able to find the job vacancy bulletins hosted here (on the right-hand side of the homepage) for a bit, while we get ready for the new site's launch.

When launched, you'll also be able to access all of the information and advice that Connexions used to offer.

Aged 11 - 18? You were able to cast your vote in Battle of the Campaigns '09. There were 14 campaigns to choose from, but only 3 can ultimately win!

The top six campaigns at the end of the vote were:

  • Abolish university tuition fees
  • National transport concession card for all young people in full time education
  • Incorporate political education into the secondary education curriculum
  • Improve the image of young people through the media and other community projects
  • Provide better and more mental health and emotional well being services for all young people
  • Lower the voting age to 16

The other campaigns to vote for this year are:

  • Free recycling in all schools
  • Change the way the World Bank lends money to developing countries
  • Devolved Nation awareness training in all schools across the UK
  • Reform the eligibility critieria of the Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)
  • Eradicate child poverty in the UK
  • Radically overhaul and improve citizenship education in schools
  • Reform and closely regulate EMA to ensure young people do not miss out on payments
  • Reduce teen pregnancy rates and raise awareness of sexual health and relationships from a young age

The top six campaigns will now be debated and voted on by Members of the Youth Parliament (MYPs). The top three will then become official UK Youth Parliament campaigns, and will be announced mid-May.
