3. How do I unlock badges?

Badges are awarded for doing various things. The majority can be unlocked by using all the different sections of Youthnetsouthampton. Some badges are only awarded for taking part in specific events. 6. Why do some words in my blog have asterisks (*) in them?

Youthnetsouthampton employs a swear filter, created using words supplied by fellow members during a consultation during October 2007. Words containing asterisks have triggered the filter. You may disable the filter in your profile options, but it is enabled by default.

9. Why can't I access the internet through the Youthnetsouthampton browser?

Your membership must be approved before you can access the internet through Youthnetsouthampton. Youth workers can approve you, as long as they themselves are a member with youth worker access. This only affects Youthnetsouthampton IT suites in youth centres.

11. How can I contact another member?

We have a private messaging system just for that purpose. You will need to be logged in to use it. You will need to either enter their username when composing a message, or you can use the 'Send Message' button from that member's profile.

12. How do I stop somebody from reading my profile or sending me messages?

There are two ways to achieve this. Firstly, you may restrict your profile to friends or close it so just yourself (and youth workers) can see it. This can be done through the profile options. Alternatively, you can add the person you wish to block to your Foes list. The foes list is available from the friends page.
